Mercedes Benz Cab "Meter Jump Faster" ?

Thursday: 27/08/09

My tutor revealed the highest score for the assignment and I realized that I did quite well for my assignment. Indeed, I was elated, as my efforts have paid off.

I took a cab home after the tutorial and it was my first time taking a Mercedes Ben cab. I was in a queue and the moment I saw my cab was a Mercedes Benz. I was thinking to myself, OMG!!! I have to pay a hefty cab fare for it. Prior to that, I would always shun it because I have the misconception that Mercedes Benz cabs meter actually jump faster than usual cabs. I was so ignorant. I heard it from other taxi-drivers but this is not the case as I clarified with him and he told me that it is a myth. The difference is the flag-down fare, for Mercedes Benz cab it is $3.20. Upon reaching home my cab fare was almost the same as previous rides with a few cents difference and the traffic flow for that day was similar to previous rides.

Verdict: Since the difference of the rate is almost the same, I shall not shun Mercedes Benz cab again lol.

On a side note, when the clock strikes 12 am tonight, August will be gone. This means that I have been with NSC for 1 year. How time flies! I still remembered that I haboured the thought that I would quit after my first year but right now I am pretty much settled there. In short, I am a satisfied employee.

a NEW LOOK

It is time to blog again, after neglecting it for a few days.

Whenever it is time to submit my assignment, I will have to sacrifice my weekend and also my personal time. To add on, given the fact that I am working, it is even more demanding for me because I know if I try to procrastinate it, I would suffer a dreadful ending. Therefore, last Saturday was supposedly reserved for my assignment but I decided to give myself a break after a hectic week. Last Saturday, I had Yoshinoya’s beef bowl for breakfast and I simply love the beef bowl there. It is considered as my favourite dine-in place too. The Yoshinoya outlet at Kovan Hearthland Mall is very supportive of Namie's PLAY album, haha, it just adds to my dining experience having to surround myself with Namie's music lol. Now you see the reason, why I keep going back for at least once a week lol. Apart from that, I am a faithful customer of Yoshinoya for years; it can be traced back to my Secondary School days. I started from their “Teriyaki Chicken Bowl” to “Salmon Bowl” and right now “Beef Bowl”.

I am a movie buff and I like to rent movies from Video EZY. The rental charges are quite reasonable. I usually rent movies that have 5 days catalogue sticker on it. Personally, i think it is a better deal because you can rent 5 of these DVDs for a week for $20 but the movies are not the latest releases. Having to say, this is quite cost-saving compared to $10 per movie ticket lol.

Movies that I rented are as follows:
1) Dive!!!
2) The Coffin
3) Suspect X
4) Pleasure Factory
5) Red Cliff 2

Recently, Unisim has launched a new criterion for submission of students’ assignments. Students are now given 12 hours grace period after the deadline; it sounds good right, 12 hrs extension, after which students who fail to submit will have their marks deducted accordingly. On the other side, if I require more time due to unforeseen circumstances, I have to write-in to Unisim and defray an application fees of $50+ for an appeal for extension. Aiyo, unlike previously, can just request from the tutor. Unisim has become quite stringent on this. Nevertheless, it seems to benefit me more, as I am always the diligent student that submits his assignment on time therefore, with this new criterion it did not impose much of a problem for me and it provides more time for me to complete it lol. Hopefully, I won’t be in a situation where I have to appeal to Unisim for extension, if not I will be $50+ poorer.

I took MC on last Tuesday, maybe due to inadequate of sleep, I had tension headache. It was quite shiok to spend almost the whole day at home sleeping, it is a luxury to be able to do it.

Yesterday, I was quite apathetic to go for my tutorial for the first time for this module, so I went for a haircut to have morale boast. Indeed, after the haircut, my moods were lifted up because I like the cut by my hairdresser. I defrayed $18 for my haircut and if I went for my tutorial I would have spent $12 on taxi fare. So looking at it, actually it is quite advisable to skip the tutorial and spend $6 more for a haircut lol. Of course, there is a price to pay for any action taken, by skipping this tutorial; I missed the integral part of the tutorial which was the grouping for my last assignment for this module. Haiz, whenever I skip lesson, it sure have something essential, so rubbish lol. Hopefully, next week, there will a group for me to join.

Fortunately, my tutor for another module informed us that she will go through our next assignment with us. I like her pre-notice at least I know what to expect for the tutorial.

Overdue: Friday’s Entry: “Where Got Ghost”

Friday: 21/08/09

Hmm, I should continue the effort on blogging on Friday but I was too listless. I guess that is the “working syndrome” that makes you burnout lol. Nevertheless, I shall do a backdated entry.

I met up with Vanessa, Melissa, and Susan for dinner @ Ion and movie @ Shaw. A little confession to make, actually when I was working, I am already having second thought that maybe I should head home after work. Really bth!!! Just too restless!!! Amazingly, on my way to meet them, I felt invigorated and there was no sign of fatigue.

We had dinner @ Ion, why Ion!!!. Well, that is the hippest place to go now lol. Haha, ok I am not usually late when comes to meet them after work, but this time around I was late for 1 hr 30mins. We had dinner @ Aoba Hokkaido Ramen, it was not that fantastic and definitely not worth your time queuing for it. There was a long queue for it and I am pondering whether after they ate it, would they think that they had just wasted their time. The ramen is not cheap; it costs $15 for one bowl. My initial thought when I ate it was the image of this Korean instant noodle. The ramen tastes like this Korean instant noodle and the soup base is just ok and not many ingredients to go along. Well, it is just as if you are eating a $15 instant noodle. Lastly, if you would like to dine there just make sure you have Citi Bank Card, for card promotion!!!

After dinner, we had coffee @ Coffee Club @ Taka to spend some quality time. We had their signature dessert “Muddy Mud Pie” I could only say after savoured it that it will send you to chocolate paradise. YES YES card promotion: UOB and Citi Bank =)

It's been a long time since I catch any movies and my last movie was “Hangover”. Due to the fact, that Melissa does not enjoy bloodly/gruesome/horror movie. Even though, we wanted to watch “Orphan” but because we are accommodating people, we settled for “Where Got Ghost”. I do think that Melissa was duped thinking that it is a comedy movie with minimized horror elements. Well it is true for most of us except for her, there were a few scenes, like a female ghost dressed in red with blood coming out from the mouth and as usual the sound effects to create the horrifying atmosphere. It was because of these aspects it sent chills down to Melissa’s spine. Haha, I must say, even though you escaped from “Orphan” but you cannot hide from “Where Got Ghost” from frightening you lol. Critics for this movie were bad and it is true “Where Got Ghost” pale in comparison to other Jack Neo’s movies. The jokes were quite corny and duh.

In short, it was a gratifying Friday night and Vanessa still owns us the photos. She is back to her slowness once again, just when we thought we saw some improvement lol.

Wah!!! I was still contemplating whether to continue to blog on my weekend but since it is already 11.23pm. I shall sign off and go to bed.

To be continued…

WHAT A FEELING: A Superb Day

This morning started off with another round of briefing for my Clinic Operations (Op) Colleagues. It was because of the H1N1 preventive measure and the Clinic Op meeting was divided into two teams. Haha so indeed of giving the briefing once to everyone, I had to do it twice. Well, I gonna said that both sessions went swimmingly which I am truly glad about it. I did not fumble much throughout both sessions and this time around they were quite engaging and prompted queries. This was good as I am able to answer their queries and better comprehend their concerns. In all, I am complacent on today’s briefings.

There were two reasons that I felt it was a seamless and delightful day for me.

Firstly, I managed to extricate myself from the outstanding bills as today I have settled it. Haha to be honest, it was not something I like to do, to chase after the relevant parties in order to facilitate the payment. Well, I do perceive it as part and parcel of life, where we have to perform certain tasks that may not to our liking. I do think that it is no use to elude from it as there is always a saying “You can run but you can’t hide”, which I strongly believe in it. It is always good to accept the challenge so that you can move on and who knows maybe in the future when you encountered the same issue you would not feel apprehensive about it.

Secondly, I am almost done for attaining confirmation from NSC’s patients to be involved in our Community Outreach Programme. These few days, were all on calling patients to inform them about this Community Outreach Programme and whether would they be keen for us to do a home visit and providing them with daily necessities. Well, hopefully by doing this small deed we are able to cushion their current situation.

Ohh yeah, on Tuesday I went to “Waraku” for lunch with my colleagues for OCBC card promotion deal. Having to say so, “Waraku” has this lunch promotion where you order one main course and you can choose one out of three choices of pasta for free. Sound good right, 1 for 1 deal per card, but please bear in mind because it is free; the quantity is not a lot, especially the ingredients. Therefore, if you are famished for the whole morning, you may not want to have that for lunch, as it is not very filling. If not you can opt for their lunch deal which is quite ok not really a good bargain. One main course and free drink (relatively small cup) priced at $8.90 or $9.90++. Last time, it was quite good, $9.90++ with one main course, drink and either pizza or toast bread (tuna or corn).

Ok a bonus, Nat Ho was there dining too, haha ok in real-life he looks quite dashing more or less like on TV and he was dining with a girl. Haha can’t see the girl’s face as her back was facing us. If not, curious to see how the girl looked like lol.

Lastly, “Waraku” has another OCBC card promotion where you can get a $10 return dining voucher when you spend a minimum of $30 and also people with kids 10% off for kid menu with every main course ordered.

My First Briefing @ Work

Yesterday, I was asked by my Clinic Assistant Manager to brief the Appointment Colleagues regarding Medifund’s 3rd party billing codes. That was because he enquired about the workflow of the Medifund’s 3rd party billing codes and I highlighted to him about that. Therefore, he thinks that it is a good idea to brief the Appointment Colleagues on it as they might be required to do billings when they need to do cross-coverage. Of course, I gladly accepted the request for learning and sharing opportunity.

Previously, I only do presentations for my school projects to my classmates and lecturers and this time around it was different because even though they are staff of NSC but I do not know them well. This time around my audiences were different and of course, I would feel a certain level of pressure. Aiyo stressed, my Clinic Manager, Clinic Assistant Manager, Appointment Executive and Appointment Colleagues were presented during the session. That added up to be about 20+ people. While presenting I received a lot of confused/puzzled looks from my Appointment Colleagues, it further traumatized me as I was thinking to myself, shit!!! izzit they don’t understand what I am talking about and they were inflicted to be more confused or what. Though, I wanted to know whether they understood and it was difficult to know as most of them looked baffled. Thus, I composed myself and briefed them on the essential points and emphasized to them to contact my colleagues or myself when they have difficulties doing MSW’s billings. I didn’t want to stretch my briefing for too long as it would delay their knocking off because they could knock off after that.

When I did my self-reflection after the briefing I discovered I did something quite amusing, I informed them how many billing codes for Singaporean & Permanent Resident but I didn’t inform them what are the individual code for Singaporean & Permanent Resident which made it quite redundant because even though they know how many codes but don’t know which code is for what is meaningless lol. Heng!!! they were given handouts to refer if necessary. Nevertheless, it is a good experience and I am thankful to have the chance to do the briefing and I have one more tomorrow lol. For the next briefing, I must not allow myself to make anymore silly mistakes lol.

Yesterday, I watched all my missed episodes of “Sayang Sayang 2” on YouTube. Personally I do think that “Sayang Sayang 2” is well-produced and scripted and my personal fave is episode 1. It is damn hilarious and entertaining, in order to keep it suspense for you, I should not divulge it. Give it a watch, it is totally recommended. For your convenience, here are the videos for "Sayang Sayang 2" Episode 1. =)

Sayang Sayang 2 Episode 1 Part (1/3)

Sayang Sayang 2 Episode 1 Part (2/3)

Sayang Sayang 2 Episode 1 Part (3/3)

Haiz, it is about time to knock off but I need to go for my lecture later on, so exhausting lol.

do you FOLLOW "Sayang Sayang" & "First Class"?

It is Tuesday and “Sayang Sayang 2” and “First Class” are installed for you. It is provided that you are as interested as I am lol. Both are shown on Ch 5 at 8pm and 8:30pm respectively. I didn’t watch Season 1 of "Sayang Sayang" due to study commitment but I am glad for this semester that I don’t have lesson on Tuesday. If you want to have a good laugh or light-hearted sitcoms, these two sitcoms will set to tickle you. Must show support for these two local sitcoms if not there will be no season 3 for Harry after work entertainment.

Yesterday when I was looking through my wardrobe and decided to jettison some of my clothes. Well it is not because of augmented of clothes due to extravagant expenses on clothes. I still have limited clothes which explain why sometimes you could see identical clothes on facebook. Just that some of the clothes I have already outgrown or the style of the clothes appear weird compared to last time. You may have noticed that some clothes look familiar and that is because some were birthday gifts from you lol. Hopefully, I will not offend anyone by discarding it because I think it is rewarding to pay it forward to those who need it more than I do. Even though it is not physically around but the joys of owning it once will leave an indelible memory on me. Nevertheless, I took one precious photo of it before giving it away. Haha, I am gonna post it and who knows maybe some of you don’t even remember giving it as a birthday gift for me lol.

It is SO CRAZY, my inaugural post. =)

Well this is my inaugural post. =)

I know the craze on blogging did not start now and I can be considered as slow/late in it. Most people started to blog in 2004 or so. I still remembered vividly when we had breaks in between lessons during my Poly days; my classmates would rush to the computer lab not to do their assignments but to blog or read others’ blogs.

Back then, I used to habour the thought to follow the trend and lets blog. Somewhat I decided to be different and wanted to keep my affairs private. Well, the main reason for not blogging attributed to the myriad of wonderful events that had happened and were not listed. I felt that it would cause my blog to be flawed. I decided not to blog back then and allowed my limited memory space to be a substitute and of course photos to remember those events/thoughts/feelings.

It was only today, I thought it through and gonna make it happen. If I started to blog in 2004, I would have 5 years of entries. Gosh!!! Why didn’t I expect myself to feel the regret until today? To be honest, I didn’t expect myself to feel remorseful.

I would like to promise myself that I will at least give brief non-fiction events that happened in my life as far back as possible (make it happen) and also on my current life.

Ok I think I need to stop being grumpy before anyone gets agitated (Ji Dong).

For being a hospitable blogger, I would like to introduce a cantopop song by Pakho Chau (周柏豪) & Stephanie Cheng (鄭融) called “Nothing Done” (一事無成).

Give it a listen, haha it is a type of music genre that I like. I hope you will like/enjoy it. =)

P.S. I think the older generation maybe ours’ parents era will think huh what kind of music is that bring back the Teresa Teng/Sally Yeh/Alan Tam/Liza Wang/Adam Cheng’s music. Haha actually a little secret which is yup I do have their songs in my ipod lol. Cantopop classic is formidable!!!

Stay tune!!!
